Ross attended John Tyler High School, and during his time there played football as a quarterback, also as a wide receiver and running back. During his senior year he was named second-team Class 5A All-State. He also previously played at Fox Tech High School. Aside from that, he lettered four times in track & field and twice in basketball.

Aaron enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin, but due to his academics he was ineligible to play. When he did start playing, he was given the corner back position, and would eventually earn an All-Big 12 Conference honorable mention. In 2006, he finally became a starter on the team, and would win numerous honors including All-American, plus beng named the Thorpe Award winner as the top defensive back in the country. While he was a starter, he registered 205 tackles and five stops for losses. He was part of one of the strongest college recruiting classes of all time, and the team would go on and win the 2005 National Championship.

Ross joined the 2007 NFL Draft, and was selected as the 20th overall pick by the New York Giants. During his rookie season, he helped the Giants to their Super Bowl XLII win against the New England Patriots. During the next season, they would set the best record in the NFC but were eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles during the Divisional Round of the 2008 to 2009 NFL playoffs. In 2009 Ross injured his hamstring which led him to miss some games, and on return he re-injured it, which led him to be put on the injured reserve list. Two years later, Aaron was given the starting position after Terrell Thomas was placed on the injured reserve. During that season, the Giants would once again win the Super Bowl (XLVI) against the Patriots.

At the end of his contract with the Giants, he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a three-year $15 million contract which boosted his net worth significantly. He had difficulties playing with the Jaguars who had been struggling to get wins, and further injuries saw him eventually released. He signed once again with the Giants, hoping to play and boost his net worth further, however an injury led to the end of his season. In 2014, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens but had another season-ending injury. The following year, he was signed with the Cleveland Browns, but was released after less than a month.

For his personal life, it is known that Ross is married to fou-time Olympic Gold Medalist Sanya Richards; they married in 2010 and their wedding was featured on “Platinum Weddings”. The two are also regularly featured in the reality show “Sanya’s Glam and Gold”.
